Tickets in hand as I entered the venue for Quiz Icarus, I'll be honest - I wasn't expecting to feel emotional as I watched the story. Learn more trivia? Definitely. Find out more about the process to join Jeopardy? Absolutely. Connect with two people who are finding their way through the world, chasing their passions, and not letting set backs get in their way or get them down? Definitely not.
Quiz Icarus is a heart-felt, moving, journey through life, told by two incredible story-tellers. We laughed with them, got a little teary eyed for them, cheered for them, and learned from them.
If you're a trivia nerd, or just have a passion for something a little "nerdy"... Go see this show.
I have never been to a show that was this type of immersive and from the moment we walked in to the venue, it was clear it was different. Being a member of the audience as an attendee at a presentation on serial killers was a very cool idea, and one that allowed the actors to create a more personal experience for us.
The use of interactive moments added fun and increased my attention every time. The passion the actors all used for their roles was contagious, and I felt myself wondering more about the topics of the presentation as I sat and listened.
The use of tech and lighting isn't usually something I note at the Fringe, but it honestly made this show what it is, and that's something you have to see.
Go see it, and definitely bring a friend.
Seeing Anatomica has been on my bucket list, and I'm so happy this was the show I finally got to see.
I have a loved one with fibromyalgia and she is constantly having to defend her pain and her fatigue, and seeing someone on stage, saying this is what it is and this is what it feels like and it's real was extremely heart-warming to see.
I laughed out loud, I got chills (the kind you get when something hits the emotional funny bone, so to speak), I teared up, I learned, and in the end, I walked away with a bit more understanding than I had before... And I think that's an amazing gift the entire audience got to share.
