Blackbird

Blackbird is an awesome play. The Director, Branden Sugden, did an amazing job particularly given the intense subject. The cast was fantastic. Sophia Radford was an outstanding lead. ❤️

The performances here from Sophia Radford and Ed Appleby are incredible. Note that this play's subject matter is very heavy.

An excellent exploration of the myriad of emotions experienced by the protagonist. I was really looking forward to this one, and it did not disappoint!

Man, what a ride! You can cut the tension with one of those high-end German-made chef's knives - and still find it very sinewy; yet, it was still not as "heavy" as I thought it was going to be going into it...

There is A LOT going on here in terms of story, character motivation, and exposition (or, lack thereof). If you are like me and like to overthink what you just watched, and frequently fetishize dramaturgy, then, please enjoy your tea (i love me a static set with long silloquies/monologues!).

If you are not, and simply want to watch something well-acted, provocative, and unfolds like a rose on a dinner table for 2 on Valentines day, then, yes, your tea is steeped here, too.

Blackbird was fantastic! I found it to be a high-quality production with excellent acting and some lovely attention to detail - such as the workplace soundscape humming in the background - which enhanced the overall experience. For those unafraid of heavier content, I highly recommend this production for the beauty and simplicity of truthful storytelling.

Incredibly tough subject matter, definitely needs a heavy content warning, but very well acted. The actress delivered her soliloquies perfectly, and both actors kept the audience at the edge of their seats. Poignant and worth the watch, if you can.

Explores the complexities of and capacity of the human heart in all its messy flaws.

One of those most powerful fringe plays we’ve ever seen. Tough topic, well delivered.
