Hey. Hey. Hey. I’ve got an idea. Go see Charlie Lasagna, get free pony. IS NOT SCAM.

Will be quoting this show for the foreseeable future, possibly forever. Many thanks to the long man.

My absolute fave show I've seen this fest. Chaotic Connor O'Malley energy. Perfect!

Laughed So Hard I Cried

This show was like winning a free weekend in Miami if you sit through a brief presentation on time shares - very rewarding and a little unhinged (complimentary). Three incredibly different characters played by one person, and all of them will have you laughing until you cry! I had no idea what I was walking into and I loved every second of it - this was so good!

Easily the funniest show of the Fringe this year. Big win for the absurdist comedy fans. Basically every joke hit for me. Pretty tight show which was impressive given how fast the jokes went by. A litttle bit of low stakes audience participation, but the performer keeps it moving so no risk of awkward, drawn-out interactions. Videos were actually insanely high production value?! I probably could've watched another hour of this.

I can’t believe that happened. Or did it? Maybe I’m still dreaming. If I am, I don’t want to wake up.

He is one of the longest people I’ve ever seen (complimentary). I am in awe.

Splash Zone Survivor

This show is what the Fringe is ALL ABOUT. This guy is from Portland. We were promised a free pony for attending. He played three hilarious, tragic, ridiculous characters and there was an epic slideshow to go along with it. I was sitting in the splash zone and here are some things that I got to do during the show: give him a high five, throw trash at him, throw pieces of ham into his mouth, and rip a tomato in half with my bare hands. And yes. I got a free pony.

(A free pony was provided in exchange for this review).

The three skits are fun and the accompanying video/slideshow presentation is very well-done. Slightly unhinged in a very good way.

Laughed So Hard I Cried

Free Pony is a solo comedy show written and performed by Phil Schallberger. This hilarious show features three different comedic sketches that take place at a global investment conference. And yes, I can confirm that you will get a free pony for attending. Honestly one of my favorite shows I’ve seen at the fringe so far. The shows premise is simple enough but Schallberger knows how to keep audiences on their toes. Each sketch features an eccentric character trying to pitch something to the audience using a power point slideshow that helps further give audiences a deeper understanding of who each character is beyond their pitch. As a writer, Schallberger knows how to write a sketch that both shock and captivates audiences. Similar to how SNL write their skits, this show was the perfect amount of premise and improv. This is a show that is honestly better if you don’t know anything about it beforehand. Half the fun of this show is wondering if you’re actually getting a pony or not. If you’re looking for a good laugh, Free Pony is the perfect show to remind you not to take life so seriously. You can catch Free Pony at the Edmonton Fringe August 16th - 24th, 2025.
