Well Behaved Women - Part Four

For being a late night run, these women were full of energy. This show filled me with laughter, emotion and feminine rage in the most empowering way. An absolute must see. Well written, amazing flow, stunningly strong performances.

Wow! That was some amazing writing. Not only was it entertaning but very thought provoking. I learned a lot, and I learned that I have a lot more to learn!

This is a very feminist play! So if that isn't your cup of tea, this is not the show for you.

The writing is so good

Unapologetic, unafraid, and unforgiving - these women are bold, and not afraid to get in your face about it. What started out as humorous had, by the end, turned into something much more reflective - realising that either yourself, or literally every woman in your life has gone through at least one experience portrayed on that stage. Go see this!

I started off laughing and ended up crying. This show did an amazing job highlighting a very important message in a light, digestible way. They absolutely hit the nail on the head that humour can be such a powerful way to bring awareness to deeper topics.

It’s tasteful, it’s fun, it’s meaningful, and it gets you thinking. It’s so important to support shows that aren’t afraid to go deep while still creating an experience that feels approachable and entertaining. 💖

Thought provoking. Runs a gamut of emotions. This important subject matter resonates. Relevant and to the point. Male behavior well depicted. Women supporting women! Win win!!

I have been fortunate to see the original, 2, 3, and now 4. I have found each one thought provoking, funny, engaging and brilliantly written. I feel this play is a must see. A group of women trying to make a difference, to be seen, to be heard. Grab your friends and support these talented women, you'll be glad you did.

Smart, thought-provoking, and unapologetically bold. The entire cast was exceptional, and brought such dedication to their character. Absolutely captivating from beginning to end!

I want to preface this by saying I don't want to invalidate the playwright's experiences. Women still suffer under the patriarchy and will continue to do so until change is enacted.

That being said, I wish this show had gone deeper. It felt like a surface-level look at feminism that at times felt disjointed. Maybe this is more palatable for a wide audience, but it doesn't feel revolutionary to me. Some scenes seemed to drag (such as the list of men who are ok --also how did Keanu Reeves not make that list??), while others took a moment to understand what was going on (my friend noted this for the pageant scene in particular). It was reminiscent of the fourth-wave feminist movement to me, and had me thinking this would've hit better in 2012 in the era of "Girls" and "Shrill". I also found the director breaking the fourth wall to talk to the audience while changing set pieces also very distracting and took me out of the play.

The actors were funny and engaged with the audience (shout-out to the actress asking if our boy pets were feminists!) and it was clear they had fun taking on different personas (I think they really enjoyed playing the frat boys, which was fun), but there's only so much they can do. I wish this had been more intersectional and missed an opportunity to address the additional issues those who are not white face. I don't think this was a bad show, but I felt like it could've gone deeper on its subject and been tighter with more tweaks to the script.

Loved everything about this. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, inspiring, maddening, funny. Highly recommend

Well Behaved Women-Part 4 was a lesson in awareness. It was uncomfortable and visceral and taught the audience about the realities that women face every day in our modern society in a way that we could truly understand.

The show was divided into several hilarious and dramatic skits of everyday life, it showcased the little injustices and transgressions against women that have become a natural aspect of our world. The performance was compelling and extremely well prepared.

The jokes were contemporary and witty, and delivered with excellent comedic timing by the performers. Additionally, each actor’s dedication to their character and their ability to have an impactful stage presence drew the audience into the drama of each scene. The lighting also added a beautiful effect as it guided the audience’s emotional response.

However, the sounds were often delayed or did not match the scene, and the performers’ expressions felt recited and unnatural. They also sporadically broke character, which diverted the audience’s attention from the scene. Despite this, the character dynamics were powerful and clear, effectively constructing each scene successfully.

Although the show was funny and satirical, it cut deep and truly demonstrated the destructive realities for women in our world. By exploring the nature of the patriarchy, the performance painted a stark narrative of the truth in a way that was easy to understand.

At the end of the performance, the room fell silent. The show had sent shivers up our spines and brought tears to our eyes as we finally understood the damage the patriarchy has had, and the danger of docility in the face of this injustice.

Well Behaved Women-Part 4 demonstrated that these issues are prevalent every single day, but the solidarity and connection that we have against these struggles means that we are not, and never will be, alone in this fight.
