It was just ok. It was cute. The costumes were fun. It had funny moments. But nothing i would consider smashing about it.

Hags is supposed to be a story about getting older. And that would be great if that's what it was. For indeed, getting older is not for the faint of heart. Hags, for me, was a story with too many themes that jumped around and never really meshed. Yes, it's about getting older. But then it was about comparing witch accessories like cauldrons and magic to technology. Then it was about warlocks wanting to take over the witches' realm to make it a 51st state. Then it was about parental abandonment, job dissatisfaction, sibling birth order... I could go on. It hopped so frequently from theme to theme that by the end, I'd almost forgotten what the original theme was. Not throwing shade to the actors here. They all did great and the muppet was a welcome addition.

I desperately wanted to enjoy this more than I did - the premise was a great one, and you can tell all the actors are enjoying their roles. The costumes were great, and a couple of the main props (the cauldron and the spell book, you'll know the special effects when you see them!) were used rather effectively.

But the overall plot just didn't land for me, I don't think? And I wanted it to be funnier than it turned out to be - there are definitely comedic elements, and other audience members clearly found certain lines/situation funnier than I did.

I saw Hags with a sold out show with my daughter. The acting, the costumes and props were all fantastic. The comedy and dialog kept us entertained and laughing throughout. All of the performances were great but the stand out role was the witch Bea! Enchanting performance with perfect comedic timing! I highly highly recommend not missing out on Hags!

My family really enjoyed it. We had plenty of laughs! We took our children (10 & 6 yrs old) and they found it entertaining. The Hags have bright and whimsical costumes (not scary). Their favorite was Bea, with her tenticle hair and horrible singing. The "magical" cauldron was fun and I wish we got to see more of it.

I am obsessed with these witches (sorry - HAGS!). I give it 4 stars, only because the ending is a little convoluted. It felt like maybe the last 15 minutes was written by someone else? The introduction of new characters, who I was expecting to be the warlocks, was someone else entirely. A bit of a curve ball that made the ending hard to follow. I wish the story had just carried on with the witches. However, it is absolutely worth taking in! Fun characters, costumes, and props.

Hags was fun! I really enjoyed the first half of the show and found that the performances were great. I get the feeling that these performers have been working together for a while, and their energy is the highlight of the show.

I checked out of the end around where the projections started. I think the story could have come to a nice end there, but it started to drag, relying on references and gimmicks to propel the story.

The show would have really benefitted from the work of an emerging/student designer, especially re. lights and audio. The technical design felt very rushed and it took me out of the show. There were some great opportunities for a rich design on this show that didn't manifest, giving the show that 'community theatre' feel.

I think this show is perfect for a middle-aged and older crowd that loves character work. I would happily see another show by these creators.

Hags was freaking hilarious!!! This show was sold out and the whole room cracked up basically the whole time. Everyone was awesome and fun to watch but Bea was my favourite character. Her whole role was over the top in the absolute best way with the funniest lines and perfect execution. I’m still laughing remembering certain scenes 😂. It has the perfect amount of adult humour but is still safe for all ages. I highly highly recommend!

The costumes, makeup, and stage design were very well done, and in the beginning this felt like it was going to be great.

For me, the story didn't quite come together, and I found it a little longer than it needed to be. It wasn't my favourite of the festival. I have. Read other reviews praising this, so this may appeal to others.

"Age is just a number, so just change it!" is one of the many lines of a very uproarious comedy play about three witches from the same coven trying to come to terms with their age during Dru's Spawn Day. With their rivals, the Warlocks (Ptuh), lurking in the background, and the Fates looking for their new replacement, H.A.G.S find themselves having more to worry about than just getting older.

One of the most charming details about this production would be its props. They are just as charmingly ridiculous as the witches themselves, especially the beautifully crafted Book of Spells, which screams each time it's being opened or closed. Something I noticed as well was the cauldron itself. To me, it was so funny that it would spit out other props. It was the cherry on top. The attention to detail that this show has was absolutely immaculate, and it makes the world of H.A.G.S feel more playful and alive and real. You felt like you were down on the stage with them.

Bea was totally one of my favourite characters, mostly because of how effortlessly she delivered some of the funniest jokes in the show. Her character also has multiple unexpected reveals about herself and her backstory, which is why you should totally check out this show if you want to find out more about them. I was really struck by her hair situation, to say the least. If this doesn't convince you to watch, then I don't know what will.

One line that has stuck with me was the idea that someone could be "too old for a rickety rat" (or something along those lines). Yet, if this show proves anything, it is that you are never really too old to have fun, be ridiculous, or even find yourself caught in a little bit of mischief. Age may be a number, but this show makes a pretty convincing argument for simply not minding those changes. It's not like you have to tell your age to anyone; as they said, all witches look the same anyway.

Superb acting and comedic timing. Loved the costumes and outrageous imagery. I will admit that I was expecting a stereotype of a Hag, and was pleased to be presented with something different. There is a fun surprise halfway through that I won't spoil, but it brought on a giggle fit.

This is a riot of a show! The witches are hilarious and their energy is contagious. This is a story about aging, or refusing to, and what that means for everyone in your "coven". Young or old, I would recommend taking in HAGS. We've seen Marisa (who plays Bea) in a couple of shows over the years. We are drawn to anything she performs in! An amazing local talent.
