MURDER PLOT

I knew this was a shorter play going in, and I wish it had been fleshed out a little more - I was enjoying the ride until it suddenly stopped.

Watching the detective go off the rails as everything around him fell apart was hilarious, I would have enjoyed some more character development of the other players, as well.

This show was good, just not great, and I left wanting more.

A very entertaining show. I laughed throughout and was sad to see it end. It was short but i would rather have a well down short performance than one that is ruined by dragging out the ending just to hit a magic number of production minutes.

The show wasn’t nearly as long as slated in the program, but even at its shorter runtime, I found it difficult to stay engaged. The actors were great and brought a lot of energy and commitment to the material, but unfortunately, the story itself fell a little flat. That was particularly surprising considering the consistently high quality of work I’ve come to expect from this group.

The tolling of bells and the ominous presence of figures within the dark, Murder plot! instantly engrosses the crowd's attention evidenced by the full audience and a sold-out show. What initially starts off as a deadly discovery of the murder of the Lord of the Manor, transforms into a chaotic investigation in search of the culprit. This becomes increasingly difficult as every suspicious character seemingly begins to help the World-Class Detective, played by Jeremy Schick, to solve the case whose expressive physicality makes the investigation even more ridiculous. Between the suspicious secretary, persistent chauffeur, and an overlooked detective, the play creates a murder mystery that is just as intriguing as it is comedic. What makes this plot of this show even more hilarious and fitting to watch is that the entire cast is made up of lawyers. One of the standout cast members was the widow of the Lord of the Manor herself, played by Sarah Rossman. Her lack of worry in coming to a conclusion about her husband's death is hilarious. Rossman's expressive faces, her focus on getting the dinner spread and purposeful confusion add to the play's humorous intent. The widow's expensive aura and extravagant costume creates a hilarious delay to the seriousness of her husband’s murder, making her one of the most memorable characters in my opinion. The cast working together to distract the detective is just a hilarious addition to the storyline that leaves you simply wanting even more.

What happened? The program says 70 minutes, the show started at noon, when I looked at the time after I left the theatre it was 12:37. I didn't leave early, the cast came out and took a bow. It was more like a skit than a play.

Novus Actors does it again! This incredible ensemble always delivers excellent acting, great comedic timing, and so much heart and love for their characters. Their shows are always a must-see at Fringe, and this run is deservedly close to selling out. If you can grab tickets, I highly recommend it!

Normally I really enjoy shows written, directed, or performed by Trevor Schmidt but I have to admit that Murder Plot! left me wanting more. A lot more.

The description states the runtime as 70 min long but the show was only 35 min in length. I’m a sucker for murder mystery plays and had high hopes for this one but it just fell flat. The laughs were few and far between and sad to say that even the performances weren’t overly strong BUT with that said it is the Fringe and I do love all kinds of Fringe shows.

Take the good with the not so good and this was ok.
